Lynn Turner, PhD, LCSW is a psychotherapist and director of A Center For Relationships, Alexandria, Virginia. Her clients include individuals, couples, families, and children with diagnoses ranging from depression and phobia to life transition and relationship issues. More than sixty percent of her clients have addictions as a primary problem for themselves or family members. Her therapy practice integrates emotional healing with conventional cognitive/behavioral treatments. Dr. Turner leads ongoing expressive groups for adult clients including a group for survivors of incest. In addition she leads four weekend emotional healing workshops, four enneagram workshops and a 120 hour psyhcoeducational group for couples yearly.

Dr. Turner is also a researcher/writer exploring the reasons for happiness and pain. She has investigated the efficacy of psychoeducation for starting stepfamilies and the effect of a psychoeducational  couples course on marital satisfaction and social support. Her current research includes the investigation of attachment therapy for children and the effects of emotional healing on the immune system.

Dr. Turner has published articles in professional journals, presented papers at three international psychotherapy conferences and given presentations at national professional meetings.

The compulsive gambling program at ALGAMUS acknowledges the seriousness of gambling addiction.  This gambling specific program allows our patients to experience and practice important skills needed in order to achieve a successful recovery from a gambling addiction.

We believe that recovery from gambling addiction is possible and that it requires an interdisciplinary approach.  Therefore, we offer a variety of therapy designed to address specific issues and concerns of our patients.  Gambling addicts attend gambling specific groups, work with a team of Nationally Certified Gambling Counselors, financial pressure relief counselors, and Addiction Psychologist to address both the emotional and practical issues of gambling addiction.

Our program is highly individualized, has a low client to therapist ratio, and is designed to address specific issues as they arise.  We believe this approach, accompanied with mutual support and the introduction to the twelve-step program of Gamblers Anonymous (GA) will bring about a transformation that will allow the patient to resume life with a renewed sense of well-being, responsibility and purpose.
